Only through severing your bond with the present and cutting the thread to your future can you reopen the door to your past.

It should be apparent that this ritual will result in a one way journey. There is no going back. It is also recommended that you do not attempt to alter the course of your own history, as it can tear a hole in the space-time continuum.

To perform this ritual, you must travel to a place that holds deep nostalgic value. It should be your old childhood home, a hangout that holds fond memories, etc. You should also have a cherished item that holds emotional value, such as an old security blanket, an heirloom knife, etc. This ritual must be performed on a day that holds deep personal significance, such as the anniversary of a loved one's passing. It must be nighttime. You must be alone, your only source of light being a candle or a muted tv tuned to static.

Close your eyes. Think of someone dear to you that has gone before you, think back on fond childhood memories, and hum a tune from your past. Reach deep within yourself and be absolutely certain before you proceed. Do you really wish to go through with this? Breathe in deeply, release your tears, and use your item to sever the thread.

It is said that if performed correctly, your consciousness will be taken back in time to your own past. You will be able to see your loved ones again, revisit your childhood, and relive the "good ol' days". But you have forfeited your chances at a happier future. Was it worth it?
Please don't read this if you are prone to suicidal thoughts or tendencies. This is a work of fiction and is not intended to be taken literally.
